The imMed and MTB PhD Programs will merge into the new PhD Program Biomedicine (BioMed) in fall 2019.
In order to recruit PhD students via the imMed PhD Program/LSZGS principle investigators (PIs) need to be member of the imMed Program.
Group leaders from UZH or ETH who are carrying out research in the field of integrative molecular medicine and dispose of own (independent) competitive research funds such as SNF, ERC or others can apply to become a member of the imMed PhD Program.
The commission of the imMed PhD Program will decide on the admittance or rejection of the applicants. The coordinator of the program will communicate the committee’s decision to the applicant, giving reasons in case of a rejection.
The imMed PhD Program strives to recruit excellent students worldwide to join the groups of the imMed PIs. To this end, interviews with selected candidates are held twice a year during which the imMed PIs have the opportunity to meet with interested students The imMed PhD Program organizes and schedules the interviews and provides support throughout the recruitment process together with the LSZGS.
The imMed PIs support the program by serving on admission committees or by teaching course modules. Members are obliged to contribute to the teaching of the imMed PhD Program. Applicants have to point out which courses they can offer for the program (or are already part of).
Furthermore, the imMed PIs are responsible that their students comply with the program’s regulations as described in the Regulations of the imMed PhD Program such as to hold regular meetings with their thesis committee and to attend the required courses.
If need be, the commission of the imMed PhD Program can decide to collect a membership fee as well as a commission fee for the successful recruitment of students. The commission of the imMed PhD Program sets the level of these fees.
